Brand new EFM truck hits the road in Dubai.

EFM has invested in a customised truck to allow efficient transport of sensitive equipment in the United Arab Emirates.

The new truck has been manufactured to EFM’s specifications to help the international event logistics specialists to move fragile, high value equipment around the region’s cities. The UAE has strict legislation governing the inner- city movement of large trucks during daylight hours, but the new vehicle can access all city areas at any time. Its capacity means it can carry reasonable quantities of equipment, but is not subject to road restrictions imposed on certain roads, as is the case with larger vehicles.

The truck’s specially designed rear box section includes two e-track rails for securing cargo. It is fitted with a 1 ton capacity tail-lift and boasts a load volume of approx 15cbm with a 2 ton payload. Insulated panels have been fitted to maintain an even temperature and help safeguard valuable and often heat-sensitive equipment that EFM transports on behalf of clients.

EFM’s Regional Director, Dylan Owen comments: “With an increasing number of concerts and prestigious corporate, public and sporting events being hosted in the region as well as international theatre shows and music concerts, we applied our international experience in detailing the specifications for the new truck. The distinctive vehicle is already in use carrying musical instruments, AV equipment, set, costumes and exhibition materials to events where deadlines and sensitive handling are the key criteria. Recently we have been transporting a 103” plasma screen around the UAE, which EFM flew in from Germany. Our truck is being kept very busy at the moment, working in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

As well as the truck itself, EFM has invested in a fully trained driver with excellent communication skills, and experience in moving and securing event equipment. The driver has constant communication with the EFM Dubai office, to enable effective tracking and updates on location and arrival times. Due to high demand, investment is already being planned for further specialist EFM trucks in the region.
