Andre Rieu: making noise down-underAdded October 29th, 2010
The EFM team in Germany were responsible for co-ordinating and managing the export and re-import of all the production and show equipment from several European locations including Belgium, Holland and Germany for the 2008 Andre Rieu world stadium tour to Australia. During a period of 32 days from the very first container being loaded and the final ship sailing from the European port, EFM Germany handled the transportation and sea freighting of over 200 shipping containers and the customs clearance for the show and production equipment, which comprised a huge total of 59 ATA Carnets! Equipment for the tour was collected by EFM and trucked from of a whole host of different production suppliers, in addition to venues in Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, from where the show was loaded onto 5 vessels, departing for Australia. EFM safely managed to get them away on schedule to ports in Melbourne, Sydney and Fremantle in Australia, in time for the required load-in dates for the various shows which were taking place in stadia around the country. EFM liaised with the show’s production team and all the show supply companies and attended on-site to ensure all the logistical arrangements went to plan. One of the biggest challenges faced by EFM for the tour, was to find enough (and the correct type of) empty shipping line containers in time, and securing enough space on the necessary dates for the vessel departures from the European Ports. Eventually the containers were successfully sourced from 12 different shipping line depots and departed from ports in three countries. The ATA carnets themselves, which had to be couriered ahead to Australia in time for speedy customs clearance on arrival weighed in at over 30kg! The client’s requirements were changing regularly throughout the project, due to the scale and nature of the tour, but EFM’s experienced team in the Germany office were able to respond promptly and arrange everything and on time! |
